Third rare incunabulum edition of the Satires of Juvenal with commentaries by the humanist and grammarian Antonio Mancinelli (1451-1505), the humanist and philosopher Domizio Calderino (1446-1478) and the humanist philologist Giorgio Valla (1447-1500 ). It was preceded by two Venetian editions printed by Giovanni Tacuino in 1492 and 1494. Domizio Calderino was an Italian humanist, appointed professor of rhetoric at the University of Rome by Pope Paul II . At one time Papal Secretary of Sixtus V, he died of the plague in Rome in 1478. The Italian humanist, encyclopaedist and mathematician Giorgio Valla was a cousin of the famous philologist and polemicist Lorenzo Valla . He taught rhetoric in Milan, Pavia and Genoa, before taking up a chair of eloquence in Venice. He cultivated all branches of human knowledge and remained famous for his encyclopaedia published posthumously in 1501 under the title De expetendis et fugiendis rebus. His commentaries on Juvenile appeared for the first time in Venice in 1486, and with those of Calderino in 1491. Antonio Mancinelli was a humanist, grammarian and rhetorician . He taught in Venice, Rome and Orvieto and opened a humanistic school in Velletri. His commentary on Juvenal appeared for the first time in Venice in 1492, together with that of the two previous ones.
