PÉTRARQUE. Triumphi de Misser Francescho Petrarcha con li Sonetti: correcti novamente. A-G8 H7 (mq H3) I-L8 (mq M) N6]; Roman car. 62 lines. Rigid vellum, smooth spine, red edges (18th century Italian binding). Hain, 12777. - BMC, V, p. 434. - Goff, P-393: New Italian edition, the last incunabulum, of the works of Petrarch published by the humanist Niccolò Peranzone (14..-15. .). It is a glossy edition, divided into 2 parts. The first part consists of a table, a prologue and the allegorical poem of the Triumphs commented by the Italian poet Bernardo Lapini (14..-14..). The second part, with a particular foliotation, consists of a table and the Canzoniere, a set of love rhymes dedicated to Laure, with commentaries by the writer and humanist Francesco Filelfo (1398-1481) and Girolamo Squarciafico (14..-15..), a specialist of Petrarch. This edition, printed in Roman characters, comes out of the Venetian presses of Bartelomeo Zani. The first part is illustrated with 6 large full-page woods, each in an architectural frame, which Zani had already used for the July-August 1497 edition. These woods come from the blocks of the edition printed in Venice by Giovanni Capcasa in 1492/1493. There are also, in both parts, some beautiful woodcut lettering. The first part is complete, but the second part is incomplete. Seven leaves are missing, i.e. leaf H3 and the six of the M book, corresponding to folios 59 and 89 to 94. The sonnet 94 situated on leaf 50 of the second part, was completely crossed out at the time . It is a sonnet against the court of Rome, which was cut out in several editions. Damaged headdress.
