Black morocco, gilt ship in the centre of the first plate, symbolizing the coat of arms of the city of Paris, spine with nerves, quintuple inner gilt fillet, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved, case (Ch. It has a rich illustration which makes the book so interesting, including 84 compositions by the painter and engraver Charles Heyman (1881-1915), namely 21 etchings, one on the cover and 20 off-text, and 63 woodcut drawings by the Swiss artist and engraver Pierre-Eugène Vibert, including 21 chapter headings, 21 lettering and 21 culs-de-lampe. One of the 25 numbered copies on China paper, including 3 etchings on the cover and two of the other etchings, as well as a woodcut suite on China paper. This one is enriched with 4 original drawings by the artist, including 3 bearing his stamp and one his signature, which served as studies for the illustration of the book, as well as 11 of the 21 etchings in state proofs on china or japan, including 10 captioned and signed by Heyman. Two of the drawings are bound at the head, the other two are flyleafed. There is also the bound publication prospectus at the end. Slightly faded back, some usual rubbing. Restorations in the margins of several pages, without damage to the text. The penultimate leaf of the suite of woods torn without missing, but with damage to one wood.
