Guillaume APOLLINAIRE (1880-1918). 7 autograph... - Lot 180 - Ader
Guillaume APOLLINAIRE (1880-1918). 7 autograph postcards, 6 of which are signed with his real name " Wilhelm de Kostrowitzky " (or "W. Kostrowitzky ", 1901-1902, to Miss Émilie Gaillet, in Paris; illustrated cards, addresses on the spine, tabbed in one volume in-12 with impr. text opposite, black half-box binding, red title along the spine (D. Montecot). Beautiful set of postcards written during the poet's first stay in Germany, which would profoundly mark his work, particularly in the "Rhineland" of Alcohol, of which these cards are like an illustration. These charming cards, most of them in colour, are addressed to Émilie Gaillet, the sister of the journalist Ernest Gaillet, director of Tabarin. [Apollinaire, who has not yet adopted his pseudonym, was at the time tutor to the daughter of the Viscountess de Milhau, and passionately in love with Annie Pleyden, the English governess who accompanied them to the Rhineland]. At the head of the volume, on the 3rd cover page, a astrological chart was drawn corresponding to her birth ("Roma 25 / 8 / 1880 - 5 h"). A transcription is glued next to each chart. Sort [Trier] August 25, 1901. In the margin of a hand-colored picture of the ruins of the Kaiser's palace: "Didn't have time to come back. This is from Trier. This is the Moselle. Michaux left us in Luxembourg. Will write soon "... Honnef am Rhein 21 [September?]. Beside a view of the Kurhaus (spa house) park: "I have left Neu Glück. Here I am in Honnef, "the Nice Rhine". It's a sick town but very pretty and on the banks of the Rhine " . Siebengebirge Se
