Pierre GRIPARI (1925-1990). Autograph manuscript, La Maison - Lot 254
Pierre GRIPARI (1925-1990). Autograph manuscript, La Maison aux sept pignons, [1966] ; 18 pages in-4. Radio adaptation of Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel, La Maison aux sept pignons (1851), broadcast on France-Culture on December 29, 1966, and collected in the Adaptations théâtrales published in 1985 at L'Âge d'Homme in Lausanne. The manuscript, a small blue ballpoint pen on yellow paper, a first draft with erasures and corrections, with notes and additions in the margins, seems to correspond to important developments added to a first manuscript, to which it refers several times. Scene I (pp. 1-3) is a sometimes ironic dialogue between the two reciters; Scene II (pp. 4-9) features Holgrave and the little boy at first, then other characters; Scene III (pp. 10-15), "The Salon with the Portrait," begins with a dialogue between Hepzibah and Phoebe; Scene IV (pp. 15-16), "The Workshop," ends Part I. The last two pages (17-18) give Scene V, with the beginning of Part II, with a final reference to the manuscript.
