Alphonse KARR (1808-1890). 3 L.A.S., and a P.A.S.; 5 pages i - Lot 272
Alphonse KARR (1808-1890). 3 L.A.S., and a P.A.S.; 5 pages in-8 or in-12, an envelope, and 1 oblong page in-4 (2 lines; a facsimile is attached). One joins 2 letters of a Lebrun de Riom (1836), and of Jules Michelet (1874). To Théodore de Banville, about a theatrical adaptation of L'été sous les tilleuls, an idea he had often caressed but which had not come to fruition for lack of means: "Send me the script you are talking about [...]. If it seems possible to me - after reading this script - I will gladly complete the operation...". He received his odelettes and was very proud to find his name in them... 1855?], to an editor: "Could one reproduce approximately in autograph these words: a corner of my garden which I have already written, under the drawing and which will be followed by my claw affixed then by me "... Nice, to Mr. Blanche, asks for the cross for his father: "At the very moment when an intelligent law - lowering the duty on foreign irons - was asking for progress to the French metallurgical industry, under pain of life - my father Eugène Karr, engineer - was taking out a patent for the invention of new refinery fires (I may speak this special language very badly) which brought to a factory of mediocre importance a saving of 80 fr per day. It would be illogical to say to industry: you are stationary, progress or die - and not to reward the progress demanded of French engineering...". Maxime on an album page : " The first half of life is inclined to desire the second - the second to regret the first ".
