The laurel branch motif, repeated on this bowl to form a crown, is reminiscent of the legacy of antiquity in this early Islamic art. It is known from several Abbasid potteries such as the dish with the laurel wreath in the Louvre Museum (MAO. S. 343) or the bowl K.1.2014.210 in the Keir Collection, Dallas Museum of Art.
