Roger MARTIN DU GARD (1881-1958). L.A.S., Bellême (Orne) March 26, 1928, to bookseller-publisher Edward Heilbuth; 1 page and a half in-8, envelope. Two l.a.s. of fathers of writers are attached: Adrien Barbusse (1887), and General Jean-Auguste Margueritte (Algiers 1868). On the reissue of his first book, Devenir, originally published by Ollendorff in 1908, and of which Heilbuth has just published an illustrated edition of 15 lithographs by Jean Marchand under the firm Eos. "Mrs. Martin du Gard is coming back on Tuesday by car, and it would be so simple to put the Devenir package in the car, to avoid the packaging and the risks of a trip by parcel post [...] I wish you success with your beautiful printing!
