ARTISTS OF THE BOOK (Les). Paris : Henry Babou, 1928-1933. - 24 volumes in-4, leaves, filled covers. Complete collection of this magazine, each issue of which is devoted to an illustrator, and contains a study, a preface letter in facsimile of the author's handwriting, a portrait, a bibliography as well as several hors-texts. The artists presented are: Carlègle, Charles Martin, Hémard, Laboureur, Hermann Paul, Brissaud, Méheut, Sauvage, Dignimont, Perrichon, Barbier, Lobel-Riche, Marty, Belot, Brouet, Siméon, Berthold-Mahn, Vertès, Louis Morin, Bonnard, Chimot, Legrand, Paul Jouve and Touchet. Numbered copies on white vellum paper, except for the issue devoted to Chimot (20) which is on japon nacré, abundantly filled with the following items: 1 - CARLÈGLE : publication prospectus for Le Malheureux petit voyage by Gabriel Soulages, illustrated by Carlègle - invitation for the exhibition-sale of the artist's works at the Malesherbes gallery in January 1938 - colour illustration by Carlègle on vellum for the fiftieth anniversary of the Association Amicale des Anciens Élèves de l'École Centrale - prospectus for La Guerre du feu by Rosny aîné - 4 colour illustrations from a volume illustrated by the artist - 12 pages devoted to Carlègle, taken from Art et Décoration. 2 - CHARLES MARTIN: ORIGINAL DRAWING BY CHARLES MARTIN, unsigned, for an ex-libris, apparently intended for George Rheims according to a pencil note - various illustrations from books or advertisements. 3 - HÉMARD: ORIGINAL SIGNED DRAWING by Joseph Hémard of the bookplate made for Georges Foussier - printed version of this bookplate enhanced with gouache - 8 bookplates illustrated by Hémard - illustrated dedication by the artist, addressed to G. Foussier - prospectus for Le Petit Pierre by Anatole France - cover, plates and spine, for Les Sept femmes de la barbe bleue by Anatole France and Triomphe de la mort by Gabriele d'Annunzio. 9 - DIGNIMONT: various plates extracted from works illustrated by the artist - catalogue of the Dignimont exhibition at the Chrétien bookshop in June 2000 . 10 - GEORGE BARBIER: various illustrations from books or magazines, one of which is enriched with a dedication by the artist to Georges Lepape, accompanied by an ORIGINAL DRAWING - covers (first plate and back) for Le Roman de la momie by Théophile Gautier, La Pécheresse, La Double maîtresse and Les Rencontres de Monsieur de Bréot by Henri de Régnier. 11 - LOBEL-RICHE: dedication by the artist to Georges Foussier, accompanied by an original signed drawing - greeting card for 1918, illustrated with an original etching by Lobel-Riche - erotic engraving dedicated in pencil to Georges Foussier - various book illustrations - invitation, catalogue and flyer for the Lobel-Riche exhibition at the Galerie Doucet in April 1951. 12 - MARTY: greeting card printed in 200 copies - catalogue of the Marty exhibition held at the Galerie du Luxembourg in November 1975 and January 1976 - brochure for the Piazza edition of the Works of Alfred de Musset - invitation to the opening of the exhibition of the works of Alfred de Musset.
