New edition illustrated with full-page and in-text black compositions after watercolours by Hermann-Paul. A copy of the current edition, including this dedication by the author on the false title: To Lugné and Suzanne, // their friend // Tristan Bernard is the actor, director and founder-director of the Théâtre de l'Œuvre Lugné-Poë (1869-1940) and his wife, the actress and resident of the Comédie-Française Suzanne Després (1875-1951 ). Tristan Bernard will have two of his first plays performed at the Théâtre de l'Œuvre, Les Pieds nickelés on March 15, 1895 and Le Fardeau de la liberté on May 15, 1897. copy enriched with a postcard mounted on a tab, featuring a portrait of Tristan Bernard from the "Collection artistique du vin Desiles" . Spine faded and rubbed. Restorations to the cover. Provenance: Lugné Poë and Suzanne Després, with a letter from the author.
