CARCO (Francis). Rue Pigalle. Paris : Bernard Grasset, 1927. - In-4, 255 x 192 : frontispiece, (4 ff. first blank), 124 pp., (3 ff. last 2 blank), 13 plates, printed cover. Paperback, filled cover, black chagrin spine slipcase from the Laurenchet workshops. First edition printed at 338 copies, illustrated with 14 original lithographs in colours out of text by Marcel VERTÈS, printed by the Mourlot brothers. One of 270 copies on Arches vellum, this one nominative but the name of the addressee has been erased. A precious copy WITH 17 ORIGINAL Sketches signed by Marcel Vertès, in pencil or ink, which served as studies for the illustration of the book. Each drawing has been glued on a sheet of vellum paper. An autograph letter signed by Francis Carco, one page 1/4 in-8, dated July 5, 1945, is attached, in which he thanks his "dear Caïd" in particular "for the pigeon's throat underpants". It seems that the addressee is the writer Jean Galtier-Boissière who was nicknamed the "Caïd". A perfectly preserved copy, partly uncut.
