COCTEAU (Jean) - LEPAPE (Claude). Les Ombres... - Lot 486 - Ader
COCTEAU (Jean) - LEPAPE (Claude). Les Ombres heureuses de Monte-Carlo. Paris : Claude Lepape, 1947. - In-folio, 383 x 283 : (32 ff. first two blank), printed cover. In sheets, filled cover, publisher's folder and slipcase. Rare edition including a preface by Jean Cocteau and 12 full-page color etchings by Claude LEPAPE (1913-1994). Edited by the artist and reserved for his friends, it was only printed at 110 copies on chiffon vellum from the Arches paper mills. Precious copy, one of the 10 hors commerce reserved for the artist and his collaborators, this one being one of those reserved for the artist, specially printed for his parents, namely the famous illustrator Georges Lepape and his wife. It is enriched with a suite of black etchings with remarks on vellum and one of the 5 handwritten copies (autograph?) of the preface by Jean Cocteau. The copy was later offered by Claude Lepape to Jacques Crépineau, with a consignment from the artist accompanied by a beautiful drawing on the false title. Jacques Crépineau enriched it with 4 original drawings by Claude Lepape, one of which in Indian ink under passe-partout, signed, two in pencil on tracing paper unsigned, pasted at the head, and one in Indian ink enhanced with coloured pencils, unsigned and representing a dance scene. There is also a greeting card illustrated by Claude Lepape for 1975 .
