King Frederick William III in uniform, wearing his decorations including the Black Eagle of Prussia, the Iron Cross, the Cross of Saint George and the Order of LeopoldOval Miniature (41 x 32 mm). Case in yellow gold, fillets of pink and white gold. Lid with amati bottom chiselled with foliated scrolls and flowers, underlined with blue enamel fillets (small chips). Panels decorated en suite with amati background, with cartouches decorated with friezes of wavelets. Back decorated with a frieze of foliage with an amati background and a large reserve edged in pink gold with a wavelet background and bearing in its centre a bouquet of flowers in yellow and white gold. Plain interior. No visible hallmarks. 18 x 86 x 61 mm - Gross weight: 119 g The miniature probably derives from a portrait painted by Franz Krüger (1797-1857) . The box is accompanied by a letter with a mourning border: "My dear Isabelle . You are about to enter a family that professes the cult of remembrance. 2 On the occasion of your marriage I come to offer you a relic of your grandfather, which I hope will find a small place in the museum of the Krauts. This box was given to my Father by the King of Prussia in 1833, when he was Minister Plenipotentiary at his court, and was decorated with brilliants that were given another destination long before I came into his possession.
