The origin of the RomansIn French, manuscript on paperFrance , 17th century93 ff, preceded and followed by a flyleaf, cursive writing in brown ink, titles in red, text inscribed in a frame drawn in inkBound in garnet-red morocco, spine with 5 nerves, simple cold fillet framing on the boards, scroll on the edges, gilt edges, paper endpapers decorated with arabesques and gilt scrolls, a few later pencil essays (a child?), ex-libris inscription on the verso of the first endpaper: "Bazin" . Size: 90 x 140 mm. Elegant little vade mecum of Roman history, finely calligraphed, perhaps intended for a young student or schoolboy.
