[HOURS]. Hore intermerate dei genitricis Virginis marie secu(n)dum usum Romanum. Paris : Thielman Kerver, 20 January 1507. - In-8, 190 x 123 : (99 ff. of 100, mq g1). [sig. a-f8 g7 (of 8) h-m8 n4]. Marbled basane, spine ribbed and decorated, red edges (18th century binding). Bohatta, Bibliographie des Livres d'heures, n° 753. Very beautiful book of Hours for the use of Rome, in Latin and French, printed on January 20, 1507 by Thielman Kerver . The latter printed 5 editions of the Hours for the use of Rome this year 1507. This is the first one; the second one, with the same collation, appeared only two days later, on January 22. Printed in gothic script, it has 29 lines per page. The almanac, found on the second page, runs from 1506 to 1530 . Each page is framed with foliage motifs and historiated compartments. There are also numerous vignettes in the text, Kerver's mark on the title, the figure of the anatomical man on the reverse of the title, and 17 large compositions occupying two-thirds of the page. This illustration is directly inspired by the one Kerver used for the same hours printed on September 16, 1499. ONE OF THE EXAMPLES PRINTED ON VELIN LEATHER, rubricated, including the initials, a large number of capitals, line ends and fly-legs illuminated in blue, red and gold at the time . Copy in 18th century binding, incomplete of the g1 leaf. Worm work to the first and last box, some rubbing from use. Leaves short of margin, with damage to frames and signatures. First leaf soiled, frame edges slightly faded. Small hole at the top of the same leaf, touching the frames. Browning at the bottom corner of the last 8 leaves. Old ownership notes on the verso of the last leaf, mostly erased. Other notes of provenance on the verso of the penultimate leaf and on the endpapers.
