MAX BLONDAT (1872-1925 )Apuleius, the motif conceived around [1906] for the 15th dinner of the Salt Mill Association and inspired by the Golden Ass or the Metamorphoses of Apuleius (circa 123 - circa 170) Sculpture. Polychrome and gilded patinated plaster proof. Restorations. Signed Max BLONDAT on the base, bears the inscription APULEIUS (with his portrait in medallion) and 15th dinner. Height : 52 cm - Length : 42 cmHistory : Max Blondat conceived this model of sculpture on the occasion of the 15th dinner of the Association of the Salt Mill, meeting resulting from the Academy of the Donkeys founded in the XVIIth century : all the presidents participating in the meal are donkeys, it is probable that the motive was imagined for this event .
