Henri TOMASI (1901-1971). Autograph music... - Lot 135 - Ader
Henri TOMASI (1901-1971). Autograph music manuscript, Isoline (choir), 1924; 16 pages folio plus title. Chœur pour l'examen du Prix de Rome 1924. "Réduction pour piano et chant par l'auteur" (reduction for piano and voice by the author) of this four-part choir, on Isoline, a poem of 10 quatrains by Gabriel Vicaire (the complete text of which is copied on the last page): "Frémissante encor de sa chevauchée" (still shivering from her ride)... In B minor at 6/8, it is marked Andantino. On the title page, Tomasi, who has followed his signature with the words "pupil of Paul Vidal", has noted at the top: "It was with this work that I suffered my first failure at the 1924 Rome competition: number of voices 5 out of 6". The manuscript, carefully written in black ink on 12-line paper, generally presenting two systems of 6 staves, shows corrections by scratching.
