János KOMIVES (1932-2005). Autograph musical... - Lot 261 - Ader
János KOMIVES (1932-2005). Autograph musical manuscript, [Arc-en-ciel for percussion ensemble], 1975; 52 sheets (paginated 3 and 5-55) 25 x 26.5 cm. Piece for percussion. A printed notice states: "The performance of this composition can be envisaged in several ways, according to the possibilities in instruments and number of performers, or according to the dimensions - musical, pedagogical, even theatrical - that one wishes to give it. In its "optimal" version, the six movements and the Finale follow one another without interruption, through imperceptible transitions, provided for by the measures "to link" of the score. The instruments, arranged on stage in a semicircle (in an "arc"), allow the 2 teams - composed of at least 6 performers each - by their alternating movement (from courtyard to garden during the 6 movements, or in the opposite direction during the Final) to add to the performance a spatial and playful aspect. Scenic decoration and lighting effects can complete the "optical" and "theatrical" aspect of the performance. On the other hand, a purely musical ("concertante") interpretation is also conceivable. [...] The score does not require any specific instrumental mastery from its performers, so to speak; it can be approached by children (or adults) with more or less musical knowledge and skills (especially "solfeggio"). The six parts are conceived in a progressive manner, the first two parts being the easiest, the fifth and sixth requiring a little more experience and dexterity. This is followed by a diagram of the arrangement of the instruments, and a chart of "Distribution and movements of the teams." The nomenclature of the instruments occupies a whole page; they are divided into six groups of six instruments, corresponding to the movements: I Red, II Orange, III Yellow, IV Green, V Blue, VI Violet. The manuscript is carefully noted in Indian ink on 24-line tracing paper; it is dated at the end "Nesles la Vallée, 31-12-75." The six movements (I to VI) are followed (p. 50) by a last one: VII Blanc "Tutti" with the indication Tranquillo giusto, quasi a "marcia". Leaves 1-2 and 4, corresponding to the title, the notice and the diagram and graph, are replaced by ozalids.
