Maurice OHANA (1913-1992). Autograph musical... - Lot 317 - Ader
Maurice OHANA (1913-1992). Autograph musical manuscript signed, Kypris, 1983-1985; [1]-15 leaves 37 x 27.5 cm. Kypris, for oboe, piano, viola and double bass, was written for the Opus Ensemble, which is the dedicatee and which premiered it on May 5, 1985 at the Temple des Billettes, and which recorded it (Numerica 1993). [CCP94, p. 482-484] "Kypris is a nocturnal and erotic poem evoking the Cretan goddess of Love. Commissioned by the Opus Ensemble, it is a one-piece work, including free parts and a combinatorial part grouping the instruments in pairs, in a sort of dance. The very unusual instrumental formation allows the composer to elaborate rare mixtures, which 'sound' admirable" (Christine Prost). The manuscript is carefully written in Indian ink on 16-line tracing paper; it is signed at the end with the monogram and dated "26.3.85". An introductory sheet gives the indication of the creation, the dedication, the duration (about 11 minutes), and "notes for the performance".
