Maurice OHANA (1913-1992). Autograph music manuscript signed, Swan Song for twelve mixed voices, 1987-1988; 41 leaves (including title) 37.5 x 27.5 cm. Four pieces for a cappella choir, commissioned by the Ministry of Culture for the Groupe Vocal de France, which premiered them under the direction of Guy Reibel: the first two at the Auditorium des Halles, and the whole on March 7, 1989 at Esch-sur-Alzette (Luxembourg). [CCP97, p. 486-488] The work is written for 3 sopranos, 3 mezzo-sopranos, 3 tenors, and 3 basses. It is dedicated to Roland Hayrabedian (who recorded it with Musicatreize, Calliope, 1991). The four pieces are entitled: I Drone; II Eleis; III Epitaph; IV Mambo (where the conductor also plays maracas). The manuscript is carefully written in Indian ink on tracing paper, signed at the end with the monogram and dated "Nov. 1988", with the drawing of a radiant sun surrounded by the letters OANA. The title page is calligraphed, with the monogram and the date "1987/88".
