PICASSO (Pablo). Thirty-two reproductions of the color models after the originals of the costumes & scenery by Picasso for the ballet "Le Tricorne". Paris : Paul Rosenberg, 1920. - Album in-4, 266 x 200 : 32 plates, printed cover. In sheets, cover with flaps, folder and posterior case, signed by Boichot. Album printed at 250 copies, including 32 reproductions of which 31 stencils in color of the ballet's sets and costumes, and one in black representing the final version of the stage curtain. These drawings were made for the pantomime ballet The Tricorn, composed by Martinez Sierra after a short story by Pedro Antonio de Alarcón y Ariza. It was created by Serge Diaghilev's Ballets Russes in London on July 22, 1919 and then in Paris on January 23, 1920, with music by Manuel de Falla, choreography by Leonide Massine and with sets and costumes by Picasso, which are reproduced here. This was the second time that Picasso worked with the Ballets Russes, after having designed the sets and costumes for Parade in 1916, a ballet written by Jean Cocteau to music by Erik Satie. One of the first 50 copies enriched with a suite in black of the 31 color plates (n° 50). The original unpublished etching is missing. Tears and restorations to the cover. Missing the original folder and slipcase.
