[ENLUMINATION]. Set of fragments of illuminations XIV-XV centuries - Mounting of six fragments [extracts from Italian illuminated manuscripts]. Laminated pieces. Framed. From left to right: 1 and 2. Two fragments from a breviary, Italy, Umbria (Perugia?), ca. 1330-1350: Mass for St. Matthew the Apostle and Evangelist, with truncated heading: "[...] s[an]cti mathei apo[stoli] [e]vangeliste. I[ntroitus] [...]"; mass for St. Nicomedes martyr with rubric: "[...] in[sin]t nicomedis m[a]r[t]is introitus [...]". Historiated initials : " E " with Saint Matthew apostle and evangelist and " L " with Saint Nicomedes martyr. Dimensions: H. 350 x W. 102 mm; H. 347 x W. 110 mm3 . Initial "I", Italy, Venice, circa 1460 (?), taken from an antiphonary or gradual. Dimensions : H. 93 x W. 110 mm4 . Initial " R ", Italy, Ferrara, circa 1460-1470 (?), taken from an antiphonal or gradual. Size: fragment (H. 260 x W. 110 mm), initial (H. 60 x W. 70 mm) 5. Initial "G", Italy, Venice (?), circa 1525-1550, taken from an antiphonary or gradual. Dimensions : H. 128 x W. 127 mm6 . Illuminated border cut out, Ferrara (?). Dimensions : H. 345 x W. 67 mmCondition : Six fragments laminated on cardboard and placed under glass . First fragment with a portion of the width of the column cut out (old restoration). The historiated initials are not affected by the cutting. - Ornate initial "S". Fragment of an antiphonary or gradual. Tempera, gouache, ink and burnished gold on parchment. Italy, Lombardy (Piacenza or Milan (?)), circa 1470-1490. Size: fragment (H. 161 x W. 120 mm); initial (H. 147 x W. 116 mm) Condition: some chipping with burnished gold, otherwise good condition; on the reverse, remains of paper from an old gluing . - Initial "I" decorated. Fragment of a choir book. Tempera, gouache, ink and liquid gold on parchment. Italy, Venice (?), circa 1460-1470. Dimensions : H. 90 x W. 77 mmCondition : Burnished gold, a little cracked and rubbed with paint . On the back, traces of paper and glue.
