PICABIA (Francis). 391. New York, Paris: 1917-1924. - 4 issues in-folio, in sheets. Set of 4 issues of this famous dada review edited under the sole responsibility of Francis Picabia. The complete collection will count 19 issues published irregularly in Barcelona, New York, Zurich or Paris from January 1917 to November 1924. The 4 issues proposed here are the following: - N° 5, New York, June 1917. 4 ff. in-folio, 372 x 268. Text by Picabia, Edgard Varèse, Walter Conrad Arensberg, Albert Gleize, Max Jacob, etc. This issue is particular because on page 3 there was supposed to be a text with a layout that was supposed to represent a caricature of M. de Zaya but the printer composed the text without taking into account this special layout request. Picabia decided nevertheless to publish the issue as it was, without the announced caricature. A very well preserved copy. - N° 11, Paris, february 1920. 2 large folios, 553 x 380. Texts by Tristan Tzara, André Breton, Georges Ribemont-Dessaigne, Francis Picabia, Max Jacob and Pierre-Albert Birot. Illustration by Picabia. Copy in very bad condition, torn in two. Tears on the edges, repairs with scotch tape. - N° 13, Paris, July 1920. 2 ff. large in-folio, 492 x 326. Texts by Georges Ribemont-Dessaignes, Tristan Tzara and Picabia. Illustrations by Picabia, Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray. Copy in poor condition, with numerous tears on the edges and at the central fold. Soiling. - N° 18, Paris, July 1924. 2 ff. in-folio, 379 x 282. Texts by Louis Aragon, André Breton, Gabrielle Buffet-Picabia, Marcel Duchamp, Pierre de Massot, Albert Gleize, Ezra Pound, Erik Satie and Laurence Vail. Photograph by Man Ray. WITHOUT THE VERY RARE INSERT BY MARCEL DUCHAMP. Soiling and central fold, otherwise a good copy.
