Composite nerikawa nimaidō tosei gusoku armor,... - Lot 87 - Ader
Composite nerikawa nimaidō tosei gusoku armor, Japan, partly mid-EdoDō period of the munemenui (or unamenui) yokohagi okegawa dō type (the leather plates are connected by a horizontal leather lace and then lacquered black). The bottom of the last row of plates is covered with bear fur. Suji bachi kabuto lacquered sabi nuri of kôseizan form with eight riveted slats. The fukigaeshi are decorated with a golden mon of the yoroi chō (the armored butterfly) type. Many clans used the butterfly as a coat of arms, and this family is unfortunately not recorded. Shikoro with three sabi nuri lacquered iron slats laced in kon sugake odoshi. Missing the kosho no kwan on the back of the helmet (the ring of the agemaki), as well as the agemaki. Menpo of ryubu type in sabi nuri lacquered iron with yodarekake with four lacquered iron strips and laced in sugake odoshi. Bishamon-gote whose forearms are of sanbon tsutsu gote type in black lacquered iron and chain mail. The sode attached to the sleeve are in seven superposed parts, the plates mounted with hinges. These sode are mounted upside down: the left one on the right sleeve and vice versa. This means that there was transformation on these kote. Shino haidate type. Ikada made of black lacquered iron fixed on chain mail. Etchū suneate in black lacquered iron. This armor is composite so it is made up of elements from various periods but the leather doo constructed in this way is probably from the Momoyama period.
