Gustave FLOURENS (1838-1871) revolutionary, member of the Co - Lot 422
Gustave FLOURENS (1838-1871) revolutionary, member of the Commune, colonel, killed during a fight against the Versaillais. 2 L.A.S., 1859 and n.d., to Jules Janin; 1 page and a half and 1 page in-8 (stamps of the coll. Louis Bretonnière). Letters from youth. March 6, 1859, thanking for a shipment of books: "These six volumes will always be very precious to me with the witty bill that accompanies them and they have found a place of honor in my small library. I would have run, on the wings of the omnibus, to thank you in Passy, if I had not resolved to return there only with the documents on Buffon that you asked me for. I hope to have them soon, thanks to the kindness of my father"... - He gave his "poetized list" to his colleague, the botanist Joseph Decaisne: "the Jardin des Plantes will do everything it can in favor of the hermit of Passy"... Attached is a dictated letter from Jules Janin with a post-script from his wife Adèle (June 5, 1871)
