LOUIS XII (1462-1515) King of France. P.S., Montils lez Tours January 17, 1493 [1494]; oblong vellum in-fol, fragment of a red wax equestrian seal with a coat of arms in contrescel. Beautiful and interesting piece of the aftermath of the "Mad War," in which the future king of France, then duke of Orleans, Milan and Valois, was opposed to the Regent Jeanne de Beaujeu, daughter of Louis XI. Order of payment given at the request of the children of the deceased Jean Boudet, comptroller-general of finances, for sums paid in his name and in that of the duke of Bourbon (Jean II, 1456-1488)... "During the time that we were in Bretaigne with the late nre treschier Seigneur and cousin the duke of which God has lame which was in the years one thousand cccc fourvings and six, fourvings and seven and fourvings and eight the aforementioned late Jehan Boudet was by us committed and had the responsibility to make the payments of our treasury and silverware and room with the pennies and other fraiz and charges which we convened at the time to make with the aforementioned country of Bretaigne"... These payments were made in favor of the lord of Lestrange, of Jehan de Vaulx and of Bertrand Prévost, moneyer of the count of Dunois...
