LOUIS XVIII (1755-1824) King of France. L.A.,... - Lot 480 - Ader
LOUIS XVIII (1755-1824) King of France. L.A., Gosfield February 14, 1809, to Count de La Châtre; half page in-4. About dissensions in royalist circles, dissensions which gave rise to the Refutation of a defamatory libel published by M. Beziade d'Avaray under the title Rapport à Sa Majesté très chrétienne, published with his permission, followed by a Reply to M. le comte Joseph de Puisaye (London, 1809). "I notice that the letter that M. de Puisaye wrote to you is of the 9th, [...] I am astonished that you did not give me an account of it from then on, do not fail to give me from now on a daily account of the slightest circumstances of the affair. The result of your conversation with Lord Liverpool [British Secretary of the Interior] grieves me and hurts me infinitely, but does not surprise me in any way; it is not the first such procedure that I have experienced here, the comparison that you have made between the Duke of Avaray and myself demonstrates the ridiculousness of it, there is nothing more to be done." A P. S. "Approved Louis" is attached.S. "Approved Louis" concerning the admission in one of the educational houses of the Legion of Honor of Mlle de Corbie Maillefait, niece of a chaplain of the king, Paris November 10, 1815.
