TOULOUSE 1767 Astonishing silver sugar bowl with removable lid featuring a grape harvest bucket in a half oak barrel with two handles (probably a commissioned piece). The body is engraved with intertwined letters RLG surmounted by a count's crown (period engraving). The lid is topped by a mobile twisted handle. Master goldsmith : Philippe LAFORGUE, received in 1740 or 1741 Weight : 218 g - length with handles : 12,5 cm - width : 7,8 cm Condition : posterior opening at one end of the lid, small cut inside the lid Literature : In the work of Mr. Jean THUILE, Répertoire des orfèvres, tome 2, it is indicated that this master goldsmith since 1752 was owner by legacy of a property in the region of Toulouse, including "house, vineyards, chaix, vinary equipment" (page 327).
