Old and very expressive polychrome coconut mask. Coconut masks seemed to be very popular with dancers for their lightness although it is not known what precise use was made of them, or if they were part of a larger costume. Lower Keram region, Papua New Guinea Coconut, polychromy, wood and vegetable fiber frame, cassowary feathers, two old cracks.
