Wallace fountain in cast iron painted in green (painting redone), the four allegorical figures in caryatids symbolizing simplicity, goodness, sobriety and charity supporting an architrave surmounted by a dome with scale decoration with four dolphins at the top, the base with pilasters with scrolls and decoration of dolphins with intertwined tails around a trident; (accidents and lacks, in particular at the tops of the pilasters). Around 1870-1880. H : 260 cm, W : 70 cm, D : 70 cm (approx.). The sculptor Charles Auguste Lebourg was directly inspired by the three Graces of Germain Pilon to create the model of the Wallace Fountain, of which about fifty copies cast by the Val d'Osne foundry were financed by Richard Wallace to be installed in Paris from 1872. A similar fountain was recently sold in Versailles, Osenat study, on December 19, 2021, lot 409. This lot is sold as it is, without any claim to designation and without prior exhibition. It will be collected directly by the buyer in the South-East of France.
