JEAN DUNAND (1877-1942) The Niagara Falls, 1927, our work presented at the Jean Dunand exhibition at the Galerie Georges Petit, Paris, 1927 Four-leaf screen; corner and stepped legs at the base of each panel. Black lacquer, colored lacquer, silver lacquer, silver leaf, particles of silver leaf inlaid. The molded frame of each leaf in black lacquer. The back in black lacquer. Original hinges. Condition and restorations of use, the right leaf fogged, a crack in the lacquer at the top of two leaves, small rubs, accidents and scattered losses. Signed Jean DUNAND, in red at the bottom of the right leaf. Each leaf : Height : 173 cm - Width : 72 cm Screen : Height : 173 cm - Width : 290 cm Provenance : Private collection, Paris. Important : A previously unknown period photograph of Jean Dunand, posing in front of the Niagara Falls screen and revealing part of the fourth leaf, is preserved in the artist's family archives. Exhibition: Dunand, Goulden, Jouve, Schmied - Galerie Georges Petit, Paris, 7th exhibition of the group from December 16 to 31, 1927. Our work presented during this exhibition.
