Manufacture of Porcelain GINORI of Doccia.... - Lot 47 - Ader
Manufacture of Porcelain GINORI of Doccia. End of the XIXth century. Part of a porcelain service with the arms of the Zoubov family including 100 pieces of which: - 63 dinner plates - 22 dessert plates - 15 soup plates Marking: "GINORI" in green employed between 1880 and 1930. Diameters: 25 cm (dinner plates), 21 cm (dessert plates) and 24 cm (soup plates). The model is probably the number "D. 646 B" which appears in a late 19th century catalog. The service was probably ordered by Alexei Alexeyevich ZUBOV (1838 - 1904), general-major, current secret advisor, vice-governor of the Ekaterinoslav province, then governor of the Saratov province. In 1902 he moved to Florence, joining his family who was already living there. He had acquired the Villa dell'Ombrellino in 1874 and then the neighboring Villa della Torricella. The coat of arms is the original Zubov family coat of arms and not the one registered in 1903 in the General Armorial (T. 18, 5) for other branches (also not titled). The Manufacture of Doccia, is the porcelain factory of Florence founded in 1735 by the marquis Carlo Andrea Ginori (1702 - 1757), then transferred in his villa of Docchia (Doccia) in 1737, the first porcelain factory of Italy, always in activity and one of the most prestigious in Europe.
