[CANTINEAU (Jean). Archive related to the publication Le Nabatéen II (Paris, Ernest Leroux, 1932). France and Syria, 1930s (correspondence of 1932). Typescripts, corrected proofs, photographs of stelae, correspondence. Jean Cantineau was an archaeologist, professor at the École nationale des Langues orientales, specialist of Semitic languages (Palmyrian, Nabatean) and of dialectological studies. Various correspondence (11 letters in all), from Cantineau (1 letter, Damascus May 6, 1932) and from his French correspondents: Marcel Cohen, William Marçais or German: Littmann; letter from his publisher Ernest Leroux (July 8, 1931). The book Le Nabatéen offers facsimiles and a lexicon for the study of the Nabatean, one of the Aramaic scripts (Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Palestine during classical antiquity).
