Queen Marie-Antoinette in 1792], in French, manuscript with painted coat of arms, on strong paper, two photographic plates with portraits of the King and Queen . France, dedications dated July 15, 1883 (dedication to the Count of Chambord) and September 25, 1883 (dedication to the Count of Paris). 3 ff + 90 ff + 14 ff, complete, calligraphied titles and dedications, calligraphied texts (brown, red and blue inks), coat of arms and texts inscribed in ornate frames, painted coat of arms. Bound in full brown percaline, cold stamped, roulette in frame on the boards, coat of arms of France in the center of the boards and four fleurs-de-lis in the corners, spine with 5 nerves, fleur-de-lis in the inter-nerve and lettering. Dimensions : 297 x 368 mmBeautiful heraldic and historical testimony on the "hostages of Louis XVI", realized in a legitimist environment in 1883, with dedications to the Count of Chambord and the Count of Paris . In 1792, after the flight to Varennes, volunteers were registered on the list of candidate hostages offering their lives and freedom to replace Louis XVI and his family in custody at the Tuileries on their return from Varennes. These people, who numbered a few hundred, mainly from the aristocracy or the clergy, were nicknamed "King's hostages". The leader of the hostages was M. de Rozoi, citizen of Toulouse. "After being brought from Varennes to Paris, Louis XVI was kept in custody with his family in the Tuileries Castle. Many Frenchmen then came forward and asked to take the irons of the august prisoners, offering their heads as a guarantee to those who feared a new escape. It is the list of these brave Frenchmen that is the subject of this book. The dedication of the Hostages of Louis XVI belongs to history...
