[MILITARIA]. [WAR 1939-1945]. [SERRIGNY (Bernard), General (1870-1954)]. Collection of articles and conferences. Prints and typescripts. Handwritten notes. France, 1936-1940. Typescript articles and lectures, notes in ink and pencil . Bound set. In-4, tricolor morocco binding decorated with gilt stars, smooth spine, blue silk lining, gilt head, folder and case (Marot-Rodde). Dimensions : 280 x 220 mmCollection of various articles and conferences that belonged to General Sérigny (1870-1954), Bernard Marie-Joseph-Antoine Auguste-Hubert-Denis Serrigny, French General whose name is associated with the First World War and that of Marshal Pétain to whom he was very close . In August 1945, he was asked to give a deposition during the trial of Marshal Pétain. He died in 1954, leaving several works of memories and reflections on the war. Among the pieces contained in this collection: newspaper articles (1939) in defense of France by Léon Bailby; a fascicle by Serrigny (mounted on a tab) entitled "Si la guerre éclatait", Paris, Imprimerie Dumoulin, 1939 (13 pp.); a conference by General-Major Michiels "Aperçu sommaire des opérations de l'armée Belge en mai 1940" [Summary of the operations of the Belgian army in May 1940] (4 pp.); a letter by Serrigny to an officer, letter of July 8, 1940 (3 pp.); conference of Serrigny "The tactical causes of the defeat" of October 1, 1940, with handwritten mention: To my friend Jacques André this small study made for the instruction of our children (11 pp.); article of Serrigny entitled: the support to Finland and the total war; with handwritten mention: this chapter must have appeared at the beginning of March 1940 in the Revue des deux mondes (20 pp.); a censored article of March 10, 1940 entitled "L'appui de la Finlande et la guerre totale" (13 pp.); conference given by General Serrigny on February 20, 1939: "Matières premières et revendications allemandes" (15 pp, and 7 ff. of numerical tables); several articles to Mr. Jacques André on the German army taken from the Revue des deux mondes and several following conferences on the total war and the military weaknesses of Germany; "Journey to the country of social laws". Conference given on March 19, 1937 at the Société d'Économie Politique de Lyon (typescript). - A small amusing handwritten note "I am everywhere" - May 2, 1941 on a newspaper article entitled "the oil soup" relating to General Serrigny.
