Attached: 54 drawings and projects of illustrations, pen drawings enhanced with gouache and watercolor); project of cover with gouache and watercolor. Paul Kauffmann (1849-1940) was an Alsatian illustrator: he did his schooling in Colmar. In the mid-1860s, he started his career as a draftsman in an industrial drawing workshop in Mulhouse and soon afterwards began his career as a press illustrator. He was a fervent supporter of the return of Alsace to France and contributed greatly to the memory of Alsatian customs, his favorite theme. He published with the same publisher mentioned on the cover project: Kauffmann (P.), En Alsace ignorée, Colmar, Alsatia, 1926.
