[COLLECTION COUSTELIER DES ANCIENS POÈTES FRANÇAIS]. - Lot 63
[COLLECTION COUSTELIER DES ANCIENS POÈTES FRANÇAIS]. La Farce de maistre Pierre Pathelin, avec son testament à quatre personnages. New edition, 1 vol. - The Poems of Guillaume Cretin, 1 vol. - Les Poésies de Guillaume Coquillart, official de l'église de Reims, 1 vol. - The Poems of Martial de Paris, known as d'Auvergne, prosecutor at the parliament, 2 vols. - Les Œuvres de M. Honorat de Beuil, chevalier, seigneur de Racan, 2 vols. Paris : Antoine Urbain Coustelier, 1723-1724. - 5 works in 7 volumes, 5 in-8 and 2 in-12. Dark green morocco, double cold fillet on the boards, ribbed spine, gilt lace inside, gilt edges on marbling (Duru). An esteemed collection published by Antoine-Urbain Coustelier, printer-library in title of the Duke of Orleans, proposing ancient texts unknown or forgotten at the time. The printing of each volume is remarkable. The set should have ten volumes; missing here are the Works of Villon, those of Jean Marot and La Légende de maistre Pierre Faifeu by Charles Bourdigné. It does include the first collective edition of Racan's works. Very nice set, in uniform 19th century bindings, signed by Hippolyte Duru. There are some old notes of stage directions in the volume of the Farce de Maistre Pierre Pathelin. Spine browned, some wear rubbing to the headpieces and corners. Provenance: Édouard Moura, with bookplate (cat. 1923, n° 183). The collection was complete at the time of the sale.
