Paris : La Belle Édition, [1914]. - In-4, 389 x 295 : (44 ff. first and last blank), illustrated cover. Light tan morocco, large composition on the first board in the shape of an oblique egg composed of large pieces of buffalo and snake skin bordered with a gilt fillet on the outside and topped by four rounds of the same skin in slight relief, two of which protrude from the pattern, central separation made of wavy gilt fillets, smooth spine with long title in gilt capitals, havana suede lining and endpapers, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved, light havana morocco spine folder with cover, slipcase (A. It is illustrated with a large composition on the cover, eighteen small caps and nineteen large headbands, woodcut by the young artist and poet Charles de FONTENAY (1889-1916), who was promised a great future but died under German bullets in January 1916, the year he was 27. ONE OF THE FIRST COPIES ON JAPAN WITH A SUITE OF ALL THE WOODCUTS PRINTED IN BISTRE ON CHINA PAPER. It does not have a number. The suite includes an additional woodcut located on the penultimate plate. A superb copy bound by Alain Lobstein in 1999, at full margins. The suite on chine is mounted on Arches wove paper at the end. Some rare foxing.
