Artistically, he was active in the development of painting in Udaipur, supporting the renowned artist of this school, Tara, who was active from 1836 to 1870 and whose work was imbued with the European eye inspired by the visit of the English colorist William Carpenter to Udaipur in 1851. The large vertical format of our painting and its architectural composition showing perspective effects suggest that it was done by a follower of Tara.
