JACQUELINE LERAT (1920-2009) - COLLECTION LERATSans - Lot 107
JACQUELINE LERAT (1920-2009) - COLLECTION LERATSans titre, 1960Théière . Stoneware, enamel. Not signed. Height: 16.5 cmProvenance : Lerat Collection. To note: This work is referenced as #723 in the Lerat archives. [The civilization of tea was developed at La Borne by Jacqueline Lerat. She brought a tea service made around 1946 by Anne Dangar acquired, after Jacqueline's death, by the State for the Musée National de la Céramique de Sèvres. She used it until her death on Sundays, when friends or clients came to visit. Jean and Jacqueline made a few tea sets that were used regularly, Jean made more sophisticated teapots like this one. He participated in a tea bowl contest organized by Japan. With the arrival of Elisabeth Joulia, the importance of tea became widespread thanks to her exceptional teapots, rounded and with large handles. Today, the making of bowls and teapots has become an important part of the customary pieces produced at La Borne]. F.L.
