CARRÉ (Louis) - TOUSSAINT (Franz). The Garden of caresses. Translated from the Arabic. Paris : H. Piazza, [1914]. - In-4, 300 x 227 : 84 pp. 2 ff. 20 plates, illustrated cover. Dark blue morocco, dark green morocco listel between two double gilt fillets framing the boards, ribbed spine decorated in the same spirit, havana morocco lining decorated with a cold fillet between two triple gilt fillets framing, brocaded silk endpapers, double guards, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved, lined case (Semet et Plumelle). Edition illustrated with numerous borders, arabesques and lettering printed in color and gold, as well as 20 very beautiful plates composed after Léon CARRÉ (1878-1942), colored and gilded with stencil under captioned serpente. Limited edition at 500 numbered copies, this one being one of the 400 on vellum paper, exceptionally enriched with a double suite of illustrations outside the text, in black on vellum paper, and in color without the frame, on japan. A very nice copy in a lined binding by Semet et Plumelle. Fragile case. Minor foxing on the black suite. Provenance : Ex-libris L.D.
