[Nicolas-Edme RÉTIF DE LA BRETONNE]. Manuscript... - Lot 167 - Ader
[Nicolas-Edme RÉTIF DE LA BRETONNE]. Manuscript signed by Jean-Baptiste François Manjot, lawyer and royal notary, Vermenton July 2-15, 1771; notebook of 24 pages in-4, tax stamp of the Generality of Paris. Precious will of Rétif de la Bretonne's mother, Barbe Ferlet. The notary, assisted by the Cornevin ploughmen, went to the bedside of "dame Barbe Ferlet, widow of Me Edme Retif lieutenant at the said baillage of Sacy" living in the said widow Retif's house of la Bretonne near and in the parish of Sacy, to receive her will. She details the goods she leaves to her five children, including her eldest son Nicolas-Edme who receives a few acres of land and vineyards, the amount of four annuities and a sum of 11 livres which will be paid to him by his sister Marie Anne. The furniture and effects will be shared equally... "I declare that I have made the present distributions of my goods with the most perfect equality. I hope that my children will be satisfied with it, I ask them and order them not to give any damage to it and to preserve the peace and the union which I always inspired them "... The marriage contract of Nicolas Rousseau and Pierrette Theureau, Auxerre, December 8, 1767 (3 pages in-4 on vellum, the top cut out) is attached. This Nicolas Rousseau was the brother of Jeannette Rousseau, who was the first great love of Rétif.
