Joseph-Henri ROSNY aîné. Autograph manuscript... - Lot 175 - Ader
Joseph-Henri ROSNY aîné. Autograph manuscript signed, La Mangeuse d'Hommes, [1892]; title and 14 pages small in-4, bound in ivory vellum bradel, title page on spine. Complete working manuscript of a tale published in L'Écho de Paris littéraire illustré of March 27, 1892 in the series "Les Conteurs célèbres" (newspaper clipping attached). The tale takes place in India: the English officer James Mac Carthy goes into the forest in search of a fearsome, man-eating tigress, who will eventually be defeated by man. The manuscript, which has many erasures and corrections, bears on the title page a dedication to Alidor Delzant (1848-1905), bibliophile, friend of the Goncourts, one of Edmond's executors; Rosny aîné was a member of the Académie Goncourt: "Hommage de vive estime et d'affection à A. Delzant J.-H. Rosny".
