Joseph-Henri ROSNY aîné. 9 autograph manuscripts... - Lot 176 - Ader
Joseph-Henri ROSNY aîné. 9 autograph manuscripts signed, [1897-1900]; 55 pages in-fol. or in-4, cut out for printing and mounted on laid paper. Beautiful set of nine tales, published in L'Écho de Paris (we indicate in square brackets the dates of publication). These manuscripts were used for printing in the newspaper, with typographical marks in blue pencil; they present erasures and corrections. La haine de soi [27 September 1897, collected in Le Coffre-fort, Rouff 1914], dedicated to Jules Huret (6 p. in-4). Le Destin [22 November 1897] (6 p. in-fol.). Le Platonique [December 9, 1897], dedicated "To Madame L. Lacour" (5 p. in-4, the end is missing). Guitars [3 January 1898], (8 p. in-fol.). Viviane [January 17, 1898], dedicated "To Madame F." (7 p. in-fol.). La Bonne Mort [31 January 1898], dedicated to Mrs Syamour (8 p. in-fol.). Au Pays du Tendre [March 28, 1898], dedicated "To Mme M. B." (6 p. in-fol.); this tale is related to the cycle of the "Club du Fumoir", with the reappearing character of Jacques-le-Taciturne. La Bergère [13 July 1900], dedicated to Victor Tissot (7 p. in-fol.). L'officier pauvre [22 October 1900]; the dedication has been carefully cancelled; this tale is part of the cycle of the "Club du Fumoir" (4 p. in-4 cut out for printing and not reassembled). Attached is an autograph manuscript, later by design, untitled, and with the end missing; incipit: "Philippe was waiting for me with anxious impatience"... (8 p. in-4, with erasures and corrections).
