Joseph-Henri ROSNY aîné (1856-1940). 30 L.A.S.,... - Lot 178 - Ader
Joseph-Henri ROSNY aîné (1856-1940). 30 L.A.S., 1911-1937, to various, including 23 to John Charpentier; 32 pages in-8 or in-12, mostly letter cards, one postcard, addresses. The letters to John Charpentier are mostly grateful thanks for his kind articles, especially for La Guerre du Feu (February 18, 1911), L'Assassin supernaturel, Les Femmes des autres (1925), Chasseurs de chimères: "l'amour est le livre des chimères" (1926), Les Pécheresses (1928), etc. In May 1924, he asks for an update: "counting 1915 it is 9 unpublished novels in 10 years that my publishers have published. In 1928, he sends a tale where it is question of "mangeaille": "I estimate that the kitchen is less good nowadays at the bourgeois in Paris: the mistress of house does not take care of it and the cooks are not worth those of thirty years ago". He congratulates Charpentier for his works on Banville (1925), Coleridge (1928), the Templars (1935), Baudelaire (1937): "a marvel of life, evocation and understanding"... To Adolphe Brisson: "La Juive is not an anti-Semitic novel, it is only a study of Israelite customs"; to Marc Chesneau, Max Fischer (2), Jules Bois congratulating them for their books; to the Commission of the Bourse du Voyage giving its preference to Notre Pain quotidien by Charles Dornier...
