Sophie, Countess de SÉGUR (1799-1874). L.A.S., [13 February 1859], to her grandson Pierre de Ségur; 1 page in-8. Charming letter to his first grandson on his sixth birthday. [Pierre (1853-1916), son of Anatole de Ségur, was the first grandson of the Countess, who dedicated Pauvre Blaise to him]. "My dear little Pierre, today is your feast day; I wish you happy birthday by sending you various little things that I hope will amuse you. She also enclosed an alphabet book for her little brother Henri, "so that he will have something too. You will give it to him from me. I kiss you with all my heart, big man of 6 years! Your Grandmother of Segur. Attached is a L.S. from his son, Mgr Gaston de Ségur, Laigle Sept. 7, 1866, to a lady (3 p. in-8), about charitable works, and a young protégé; for Maurice he advises Stanislas rather than the Carmelite school: "this preparatory school is better than the secular schools founded for the same purpose, but from the point of view of piety and morals, I believe [...] it is far inferior to Stanislas"...
