Yesterday the package from Spain was sent, and it seems to me that I no longer have anything to do with it. There is no longer any question of following up on what was resolved in my room at Marly, and since Pr. des Ursins no longer enters into business I have no more service to render him on this matter. [This letter puts an end to the hopes of marriage of Michel-Jean Amelot, marquis de Gournay (1655-1724), ambassador extraordinary of the king to the Court of Spain, for his daughter, with the count of Chalais, nephew of the princess des Ursins].
