PARIS. P.S. by Jean-Baptiste BERTHIER (1721-1804), engineer geographer: engraved map Auteuil-La Muette, with signed note, Versailles June 1, 1770; 51 x 60 cm. At the bottom of this engraved map, a handwritten note, signed by Berthier, indicates: "Prior to the general verification of the topographical states of the country which compare the sheet n° 4 of the surroundings of Paris, which I must do in relation to the survey of the new hunting map of the King, of which it has more to His Majesty to charge me; Mrs. Chaperon and Darnaudin will survey and will make without losing time with the greatest exactitude all the changes and increases which could have been made since the survey of the same details, made in 1731. And for this purpose, he will observe to have the most honest attentions to obtain from the persons in the parks and gardens of which he will have to operate, the permission to enter there for the service of His Majesty only ".
