Alphabet of the wise children. N° 1. The Little Thumb. Pellerin & Cie. Epinal. [1874]. In-16 oblong (10,1 x 14,5 cm approximately). (16) ff. including covers, printed on the front: lithographed and stenciled paper covers, a mother performing a magic lantern session to her children and projecting the title, on the first, two pictures and their captions on the second. Alphabet, syllabary, five pages of first readings where each line is inscribed in a different typography and bearing a colored illustration in the corner, precede the pages of traditional Epinal imagery relating the history of the tales and comprising two colored vignettes with captions per page. Olivier-Pinot Edit. in Epinal. [Around 1880]. Charles Pinot had left the Imagerie Pellerin and founded his own publishing house in 1860. At his death, the company was taken over by his brother-in-law and nephew who bore the name Olivier. The house took the name Olivier-Pinot between 1875 and 1888, when it was bought by Pellerin. - ABC of Ernest's mischief. - ABC of Puss in Boots. - ABC of Mimi bon cœur. - ABC of Little Red Riding Hood. - ABC of the village school. Rare set of twelve fragile booklets which have their few defects of use. The colors of the first six remain bright. Two covers are detached, two have some period coloring, one is restored.
