Bunte Bilder von A bis Z. Verlag v. J. F. Schreiber in Esslingen a/N. [Am Neckar]. [1846]. Small in-8 (20,5 x 14 cm). (16) pp. of strong paper: publisher's album, chocolate percaline spine, lithographed and stenciled first board, figures and animals in a decoration of interlaced foliage, young boy with a squirrel at foot. Finely lithographed and stenciled alphabet book, produced by the great publishing house founded by Jakob Ferdinand Schreiber in 1831. The first children's books by the lithographer appeared in 1840. This alphabet book is therefore situated in the early days of J. F. Schreiber's children's publications. A lithographed title page in black, repeating the cover illustration, two illustrations, in beautiful colors, per page, in a double frame, underlined by a single name. A, Affe [monkey] to Z, Zimmermann [carpenter]. Ornate initials x and Y, placed side by side, without image. Rare. Only one copy referenced in libraries: Württembergische Landesbibliothek in Stuttgart. Boards soiled, cuts and corners rubbed, loose seam.
